The Short Version

Steve Caldara founded Caldara, Wunder, and Associates in 1996; and has over 26 years of experience in the insurance and financial services industries. He named the company after deceased family friend Charlie Wunder. Steve is passionate about helping other people with the financial resources they need to achieve their goals. In addition to his professional duties, Steve enjoys skiing, camping, and advising young people.

The Long Version

Steve was born in the northeast and lived there until he was thirteen years old. He then moved to Colorado, where he just barely finished high school. Thereafter, he worked on the production line of a factory, from 11:30 at night to 7:00 in the morning. He quickly grew tired of this.

Realizing he needed an education, Steve enrolled in a certificate program at a local community college; going to class during the day and working as a custodian at a local shopping mall at night and on the weekends. Upon completion of the program, Steve decided to stay in school and pursue his Associates degree, while continuing his night and weekend work schedule.

After completing his Associates program, he took a deep breath and applied to a university. For the next three years Steve attended the university during the day, and worked nights at a local recovery center as an attendant. He also returned to the factory during college summers, working as many hours as “they would give him”.

Steve graduated college after five and one half years, getting his bachelors degree.

His first professional job was as a sales representative of a fortune 15 company, selling large copiers and duplicators. He was responsible for a large territory and customer base; with an emphasis on the Bell (telephone) system during its divestiture into the “baby bells”.

Not wanting to relocate his family from Colorado, Steve left his large employer and became a commercial real estate broker, focusing on the industrial sector. Following four horrible economic years in the Denver real estate market, and refusing to go back to selling copy products, Steve “crawled” out of the commercial real estate business, deciding to sell life insurance and disability insurance. What was he thinking?

For six years he successfully built a clientele, and achieved numerous industry awards and professional recognition. Ever passionate about building his own business, Steve decided to start his own company - expanding into investing and financial advising in addition to insurance.

During the past twenty-six years Steve has served his clients, community, and profession. He has earned numerous professional designations and awards. He is a Life & Qualifying member of the Million Dollar Round Table®; and a twenty seven year member of the National Association of Insurance and Financial Advisors®, where he served on the board of directors of the Denver association for twelve years. Three of those years he served as President.
